ROLE: How you contribute to Tembec
Work within a team to perform maintenance on electrical and/or instrumentation and control systems. Install, repair, modify, and troubleshoot industrial equipment used for electrical/electronic distribution and control. You need to be safety-conscious, energetic, and able to understand your role in our team.
 
 
REQUIREMENTS: What you bring to our workplace
 
Education: Graduate of an Electrical Engineering Technology Program or equivalent
  • Certification: Valid Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent
  • Experience: 3-5 years
  • Language: Bilingualism is an asset (English & French)
 
CONDITIONS: Compensation and hours
 
  • Wages: $33.41 per hour
  • Hours: 40 per week.
  • Shift work: May be required

SETTING & LIFESTYLE: What to expect at the site and in the region
  • Tembec’s Chapleau sawmill, with 150 employees, produces softwood (spruce, pine and fir) lumber as well as wood chips. The site also uses biomass (e.g. bark, shavings, sawdust) to produce green steam used in sawmill kilns and to generate green electricity.
  • Chapleau, with a population of 2,200, is a four-hour drive north of Sault Ste. Marie.
  • Like most towns in the boreal forest region, Chapleau is surrounded by lakes and rivers, so the area is very attractive to those who like canoeing, kayaking, boating and fishing.
  • Chapleau Game Reserve, the world’s largest, is just north of the town – hunting is banned but hiking, camping, and fishing are welcomed.
